Your Life Rhythm Budget

Too much to do – Not enough time . . .

Too many Bills – Not enough money

So many friends – Too busy to visit with them all

Need to learn – Don’t have time for training or coaching

Love to read – Too much noise to concentrate on a book

Seeking better health – always eating on the run

Speaking of running . . . not exercising as I should

Need to network more for my business – my busyness always seems to conflict with the networking opportunities

The day is done – I’m tired – Not sure I accomplished anything that MATTERS

Need more income – know I need more clients – too busy to lead generate

Need a vacation to get away from it all – scheduled it but cancelled – too busy

Set the same big goals every year . . . and have the same year . . . EVERY year (short of the goals).

I could go on and on and on . . .

this is the definition of insanity – Doing the same things and expecting different results.

I believe it’s time for a change.

It’s not time to work MORE hours or increase your effort or abandon your goals . . .

It IS time to consider your Life Rhythm and how you budget all of your “assets” (Time, Energy, Money, Emotions, Relationships, Physical conditioning, Spiritual focus) such that your Life Purpose gains clarity and you find a sense of FLOW.

FLOW is comparatively effortless progression towards your Life Purpose.

Goals are nothing more than “waypoints” along the way . . . THROUGH which you pass as you define your CAUSE (your reason for being) and go “there”.

This may sound airy-fairy and cliché . . . Unless some (or all) of the above has some semblance truth as you describe your present human experience . . . your NOW!

I have a simple idea that may help you turn the corner and make 2011 a different year than all the others . . . and 2012 better than 2011 . . . and each year thereafter better than the one before.

Sounds Utopian, doesn’t it?

BUDGET your Assets.

Wiki says this about “Budget”

“A budget (from old French bougette, purse) is a list of all planned expenses and revenues. It is a plan for saving and spending.[1] A budget is an important concept in microeconomics, which uses a budget line to illustrate the trade-offs between two or more goods. In other terms, a budget is an organizational plan stated in monetary terms.

In summary, the purpose of budgeting is to:

  1. Provide a forecast of revenues and expenditures i.e. construct a model of how our business might perform financially speaking if certain strategies, events and plans are carried out.
  2. Enable the actual financial operation of the business to be measured against the forecast.”

So “a budget is an organizational plan”. the above quote references only MONETARY . . .

Can we not budget our time, energy, and all aspects of our lives such that we reap the optimal benefit from the amount we have available?

The world is conspiring against this budgeting effort and will make things VERY difficult for you as you wean yourself off this addictive “always gotta be busy” behavior of yours.

Begin by SLOWING DOWN!

Develop a life rhythm that works for you by creating a “healthy ritual”. This begins with spending some time with a few sheets of paper. Consider what you do EVERY day, or EVERY week, or EVERY month, or annually . . . List these out.

Sales meeting every 1st & 3rd Tuesday 9-10:30

Lunch & Learn every Wednesday 11:30-1:00

Book Club every 1st Thursday 11:30-1:00

Monthly Goal review every 4th Friday 8:00-10:00

Annual Family vacations

Put’m in an electronic calendar (Leverage yourself) such that they automatically populate the calendar forever (I use the Google Calendar).

Schedule in everything that MATTERS in your life – Time with family & friends – Self time for learning and exercising and Spiritual focus – Lead generation time for your business . . .

Whatever gaps that remain in your calendar when this task is done are the times when you have permission to be “busy” . . . to work with clients etc.

The point of Budgeting?

Living within your means all the while getting the MOST out of your life.

None of this matters unless you first define your CAUSE!

Why are you here?

I’m just sayin’

Best,

b

PS – Each quarter, I offer a “Life rhythm workshop” that unpacks a “system” complete with the appropriate “tools” to accomplish the establishment of healthy Life Rhythm . . . The next one of these is to be March 21, 2011 . . . Put it on your calendar and let me know if you’re interested in attending.
