The 1st Day of the End of 2014

Well . . . I guess we could say that EVERY day of 2014 has been:

“The 1st Day of the End of 2014,” but THIS day is the 1st day of the 4th Quarter of 2014.

90  days is long enough to get enough going for a STRONG finish . . . but only if you get your mind right.

Don’t slip into that end of year “Short-timer’s slide.”

You know this slide because you’ve done it before (perhaps every year), and you’ve ALWAYS regretted it come January/February of the following year when you need stuff to happen, but there’s no momentum.

Usually, “THE Slide” includes an internal dialog of “Excuses” which typically kick in mid-October . . . “Halloween means WINTER is eminent, and the pace of business will “naturally Taper,” so it’s OK to decrease intensity . . . and Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so you don’t want to get too busy to be able to enjoy the season of being Thankful . . . then it’s time for shopping and preparing for Christmas and attending parties and all that goes with the “Holiday Season” immediately followed by . . . the new year celebration after which old man Winter will surely show up in full force and the weather will make it IMPOSSIBLE to keep the work moving along . . . Mid March shows up, and we are in sheer PANIC that we have NOTHING in the pipeline . . . ”

Let’s not repeat that bad habit this year.

What can you commit to accomplishing in the next 90 days that’ll set you up just right for a STRONG start of 2015?

I can’t think of a single valid reason that your business shouldn’t be at a rolling boiling January 1, 2015.

I have some suggestions . . . Pick any one, and your momentum will increase – Pick several (or all) and you’re gonna ROCK!

  1. SCHEDULE all of the known events and celebrations and vacations for the next 15 months, and block them in your calendar
  2. Set goals and expectations of yourself for the next 90 days and write them down
  3. Set goals and Expectations for your Personal, Family, Business, Financial, and Community involvement performance in 2015
  4. Commit to good HABITS with respect to your Daily, Weekly, Monthly budgeting of your time, energy, and money.
  5. Find an ACCOUNTABILITY partner (or 2 or 3) who will commit to keeping each other “Honest” regarding maintaining proper discipline and routine

There now . . . That should be a good start.

Each and every day, IMPLEMENT these things with vigor.

Diligent – Consistent – Persistent follow through of doing what you’ve said you’re going to do.

Once you start (Tomorrow morning), Don’t let yourself down!

If you slack off, you won’t just be hurting yourself because there are others counting on you to perform and succeed.
