Happy Thanksgiving to YOU!

I love Thanksgiving week because (for me) it begins my annual ritual of “taking stock” of my accomplishments throughout the year.

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for the bounty of the Fall Harvest which comes as a result of the efforts throughout the year.

My life rhythm includes taking some time each weekend to think about the coming week, check the scheduled appointments, and prioritize the activities for the week. My goal is to optimize my effectiveness throughout the week.

On Thanksgiving week, there are only 2 days to consider . . . Monday and Tuesday, and as I measure all that “needs” to be done against the reality that I only have 2 business days, I always have an awakening as I realize that it is now time to consider the next year . . . Goals, priorities, Strategies . . .

That’s when the fun commences because I also know that with every new year, I have this wonderful opportunity to re-create myself . . . knowing all the while that great things (accomplishments) seldom occur according to ANYONE’s plan.

Who’d a thought that I would have a sudden departure from Keller Williams Realty in February of 2010 . . . Just 2 months after I had created a plan for what I thought was going to be a tremendous year of growth for that office?

When that happened, the plan was out the window . . . and I dove into my practice of working with Home Buyers and Sellers . . . and began to cogitate about what the PERFECT Real Estate firm might look like . . . From those ashes arose Pareto Realty.

2010 was all about developing the business model . . .

2011 will be about making it REAL!

So . . . I figure after Thanksgiving we all have @ 30 days to recreate ourselves such that on January 2, 2011 when we show up at the office, our “new and improved” self will be vivaciously and confidently forging FORWARD.

How to pull this off gracefully comes from my learnings from my Father’s Harrison Owen’s work known as Open Space Technology:

Begin with a Theme which arouses sufficient passion within you to move you to take responsibility through appropriate action. This theme comes from considering “issues and opportunities” in your life and consciously choosing to SHOW UP and be present.

Note: this theme may include a complete change of career . . . or office . . . or a continuation of the same with a twist. The key is that THIS is the time to be TRUTHFUL with yourself.

TELL THE TRUTH!

Are you doing what you want to be doing? Is your ladder leaning against the right wall? Is now the time to start something BIG and NEW and DANGEROUS?

FOLLOW YOUR HEART . . . Decide to do that for which you have real passion . . . and LET GO of the rest 🙂

Next step . . . Invite others by stating your theme and letting them know when/where to show up.

The right people will show up.

Open the market Place . . . Ask for their input/contributions.

Give this part some time . . . Creativity and Spirit don’t know time . . . It’ll start when the time is right.

Toss preconceived agendas aside – Remember that I said that nothing great ever happened according to the plan? Know that whatever happens will be the only thing that could have.

and finally . . . as you journey forth, keep the “Law of 2 Feet” in mind: “If at any time you find yourself in a place where you are neither giving nor receiving anything of value, you must use your 2 feet to take yourself to a place where you CAN contribute and/or receive something of value.”

I challenge you to get the MOST out of your life . . . and I am here suggesting that you take the next 30 days to evaluate your “station in life” . . . are you on the right bus and are the right people there with you on that bus?

I know that Pareto Realty is the right bus for me in 2011 . . . and I am inviting others to join me in this grande life experiment to create a real estate firm with a commitment to LIVE, WORK, PLAY . . . and performance oriented living.

A simple little concept to encourage all participants to optimize their human experience as together we practice simple little concepts like “local businesses doing business with local businesses” . . . Building our business through REAL, DEEP relationships . . . and striving for excellence in everything we do.

Sounds Utopian doesn’t it?

If the shoe fits . . .
