To some degree, all of us were born with Entrepreneurial tendencies.
Some of us do more with it than others . . . both in productive ways and some not so productive ways . . . while others prefer the “known” and squelch it near zero.
I know some rabid (serial) entrepreneurs. These are very exciting folks to be around. They’re ALWAYS into something new and different . . .
If it’s selling, you never know what you’re going to get when they call – Travel Club? Cosmetics? Health supplements? Mail out cards? . . . and with each one, it’s not simply a sales pitch to buy the product – It also includes “an invitation to make beaucoup bucks as a sales representative” yourself.
The more people you have in your downline, the better . . . and the more money you’ll make . . . and life will be good.
That’s the promise.
Here’s what I believe you really get when you entertain your entrepreneurial Spirit at this level . . .
Distraction – from your career. This is a bad thing if your career is something you would like to keep intact . . . If not . . . well . . . then move on.
Departure from reality – There ain’t no such thing as “get rich quick” in a sustainable way . . . and you really do NOT have the capacity to do many things (multi-task/careers) well simultaneously – Jack of all trades is a master of none.
Polar opposite magnetic repulsion – Do this consistently and there will be people who will avoid contact with you as if you have the plague . . . because they don’t want to deal with the high pressure sales pitches.
Confusion . . . People you approach will wonder about your commitment to your career (If you’re a REALTOR or Lender etc) and may have reservations about referring you business because of concern that your head is not in the game.
Michael Gerber wrote a book called “the E-myth” – the entrepreneurial myth in which he makes a good case for channeling your entrepreneurial Spirit and living a more “P” (purposeful) life.
Discover your personal vision and purpose . . .
FOCUS on that (and ONLY that) over time . . .
PRACTICE consistently – Develop a ritual
Find Accountability, Training, Coaching as you seek higher levels of achievement.
Develop systems and acquire tools which allow you the freedom to stay in your 20% – Doing what MATTERS most in your life.
For me, this boils down to authenticity and truth.
Are you who you say you are?
Just some thoughts to ponder as I notice more and more people around me who are not seeing the results they want in their careers and are exploring entrepreneurial opportunities.
Why not just recreate how you go about your career?
Retool your systems if the old way isn’t bearing fruit.
Stop doing the same things expecting the same results as before . . . Someone has moved the cheese, and you must adapt . . . or die.
Whatever you do . . . I hope you don’t choose “purgatory” – that no-man’s, no career void in the middle chasing myriad network marketing programs and attempting to juggle your career (real job).
I’m just sayin’
Best,
b
