Don’t Let Emotions Supersede the Written Agreement

Often in life, things comes out of left field and unexpectedly hit us in the head.

We didn’t see it coming.

Everything was going swimmingly, then WHAMMO – Right upside the head!

Perfectly laid plans seem to unravel instantly.

We think: “How could THIS happen to US?

Emotions kick in and the new spanner in the works gains in power. Next thing you know, EVERYTHING is spinning out of control.

Once peaceful people begin to get nasty – Turning up the volume and saying bad, hurtful things about each other.

“He said/She said” syndrome controls.

Does this have to be the end or can we save it?

Is it worth saving?

Have we allowed emotions to make this bigger than it really is?

How can we slow things down – and hop out of this maelstrom to find a calm place where we can simply THINK rationally?

STOP!

BREATHE!

LISTEN!

If there is one, go back to the original, WRITTEN agreement and remind everyone what it says and what it means.

Remember: “stuff happens”

The clients make the decisions . . .

The Professionals manage the process . . .

Does the Buyer still want to buy THIS house?

Does the Seller still want to SELL this house?

What’s the REAL issue keeping us from moving forward, and what’s the written agreement say about it?

Love your clients like Family, but let go of those emotions when things go weird and be like a duck – Calm and unruffled on the surface, paddling diligently below.

Making noise and stomping feet and beating chests doesn’t serve anyone well.

Life’s too short for all that 🙂

Be polite yet firm!

Be nice!
