POS 12.3

Most folks in sales think “POS” means “Point of Sale”

A better context for today’s world is “Personal Operating System”

What’s your personal platform and how’s it performing relative to your environment and your goals?

Is it serving your purpose well?

From Wiki: “An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that manages computer hardwareresources and provides common services for computer programs. The operating system is a vital component of the system software in a computer system. Application programs usually require an operating system to function.”

So . . . Let’s play with this idea. For “Personal Operating systems” in America was OS 1.0 the pilgrims and early settlers? 2.0 might have been the revolutionaries . . . 3.0 Industrialists . . . 4.0 the Cleavers (Ward and June – Leave it to Beaver’s parents) and so on until present day . . . Did each generation configure a new Operating System to support the new, “Progressive” way of living?

Or . . .

Is the OS more personal?

I’ve subscribed to a theory that most humans have their own rhythm of recreating themselves throughout their lives. the Frequency of the re-creating varies . . . For me, it’s @ 3 years. Every 3 years, I tend to upgrade my POS, and it’s been this way for me since birth . . . I’m on a 3 year rhythm.

Every 3 years, I orchestrate some sort of major life shift (and always have).

Businesses do the same.

Why must we do this?

Doesn’t it seem like a bunch of unnecessary work?

Why not simply leave everything the same?

What’s this need to rock the boat?

Why fix it if it ain’t broke?

Because . . . The only constant in the world is change.

If you were living in a vacuum with no aberrance, you could enjoy homeostasis . . . but that’s not reality, because the world is in constant motion.

Yet there MUST be SOME continuity.

That continuity is the CORE YOU.

This core is what it is and doesn’t change throughout all iterations of re-creations.

WHO you are doesn’t change . . . It’s what you DO that changes . . . and with whom.

The fun part is that every so often you find people along the way who imprint with your core and travel with you regardless of the configuration of you Operating System . . . Those are your true friends.

Be true to yourself . . . honor the glue that holds your POS together.

Keep on riding that wave!

PS – Pareto Realty hits it’s 3rd year in business this year which means that it’s time for a measure of re-creation . . . Stay tuned and know that you’re invited to participate 🙂
