Can’t live with them . . .
Can’t live without them . . .
Some we love . . .
Some we hate . . .
Some we love AND hate . . .
Regardless of what we project, we are all interested in some level of acceptance and/or “approval” of the people around us.
To some degree we define ourselves based on our perception of other people’s view of us.
That’s otherwise known as “relationship” . . .
Give and Take . . .
It’s a dance!
Life gets a LOT easier when we surround ourselves with people whose beliefs align with our own.
Herein lies the quagmire.
What happens when we realize there are people in our lives who don’t seem to “fit?” Whether it be new people in our life or old friends or acquaintances whose path has diverged from ours, this is a complexity that can create angst and drama as we sort through our own personal ways and assess our values . . .
Do we compromise our values in order to maintain that relationship . . . or do we “adjust”?
Is it worth it?
Here’s the hook . . . Odds are good that if you’re not feeling “aligned” with the relationship, neither is the other person.
Solid relationships must be 2 way streets.
I’m not here to judge or preach . . . only to say that my hope is that the choice you will make will preserve YOUR SELF . . . The Vital YOU . . .
The company you keep reflects on you . . . because all people know that “Birds of a feather flock together”
Don’t compromise your vitality (the Vital YOU) in order to maintain relationships with the “Trivial Many” lest you become “one of THOSE PEOPLE”
Being someone you aren’t sure is a lot of hard work just to maintain “relationships” that don’t contribute and validate your personal vitality.
Can’t please ALL people ALL the time . . .
So . . .
Specialize in YOU . . .
Spend some time discovering the “Vital YOU” . . .
and then spend the remainder of your time on this planet being THAT person . . . the REAL, AUTHENTIC YOU.
Amazingly, you’ll notice then that all the right people seem to come into your life effortlessly.
PS – This post comes after a couple days of reflection from the Friday morning session I facilitate each 1/4 – “Life Rhythm Discovery Workshop” . . . The session Historically has been mostly “presentation” of a powerpoint along with a couple of videos . . . This time was different . . . It was a conversation . . . and most of it was just what it needed to be . . . Deep discussion about personal Vitality and a personal connection of all of that to the Pareto Principle and the 20% “Vital Few” . . . Thereby the “Vital YOU”
