NOBODY uses the radio anymore!

The radio is old and stale . . .

People who listen to the radio are old and stale . . .

Too much talking and commercials on the radio . . .

I want to listen to what I want to listen to WHEN I want to listen to it . . .

Even as I receive a couple of calls every week from the ad Sales Departments local radio and TV stations, I’m hearing all of the above from our 2 teenagers, our “20 something” son and his friends, and our “30 something” friends and colleagues.

Pandora – itunes – Netflix – Amazon Prime – Youtube (and others) have captured the lion’s share of listeners/watchers because these media servers can eliminate everything they don’t like about the radio and TV.

Why would ANYONE want to hear all of those ads?

The rest of us crusty old farts don’t understand.

After all, how do these “kids” find time to download all of those tunes and randomly listen hour after hour to songs and watch silly videos and snapchat and instagram and all THAT?

Don’t “they” have better things to do with their time?

Am I sounding like OUR parents sounded 25 years ago?

Surely, we would NEVER succeed in the world acting the way WE acted in teens, 20s, and 30s . . . Yet we have!

The craziest part of it is they do all that AND  perform well in school and work . . . HUH?

This is going to require a significant shift in mindset for us laggards.

Maybe all that noise of the ads and “controlled Programming” that come with conventional radio and TV are more distracting than what we might be able to create in the way of ambiance within our personal bubbles.

Could it be that these nimble-minded young lions have found for themselves a perfectly blended stew of background entertainment such that their brains get this perfect balance of stimulation that optimizes their personal mental powers?

Maybe we’re taking life too seriously.

Adopt some of these new and different “ways,” and I think we will find THE golden nugget.

Tis “The Holy Grail” of being able to focus ONLY on what Matters MOST simply by eliminating all the extraneous noise and surrounding yourself with only those things and noises that help you focus.

If you’re just not “getting” this, find a 13 year old to coach ya.

I’m looking forward to hearing of your new-found burst of success.

  1. I agree with you about everything you said, but a few months ago when one of my friends told me he listens to talk radio on the way to work every morning. A local station with a little bit of news and a guest from time to time. And I know one lady, Margaret Rome in Maryland is running a very successful real estate brokerage and she tells me she get a lot of business from her weekly radio show.
Of course most of her customers are not the young folks who would never listen to a radio, but they also usually still live with mom and dad. Radio advertising is not my cup of tea, but I like it better than newspaper adds. I’m not planning to use either.
    Great post
