What’s so different about Pareto Realty?
In many ways, we are “breaking the mold” of the traditional real estate sales firm model . . . and we are doing so with full intent to positively impact our COMMUNITY as we “The Vital Few” practice our art of working with Home Buyers and Sellers throughout their transitions.
Why be different?
We’re in a world of uncertainty . . . a world in which what has worked in the past doesn’t necessarily work now, so we are working like busy beavers attempting to get a grip on our situation.
“Main Stream” thinking is “average” . . . and “average” isn’t proving to be all that profitable/effective. It seems “The larger they are, the harder they fall” is become more valid every day.
So . . . What IS Validity?
“In logic, an argument is valid if and only if its conclusion is entailed by its premises, a formula is valid if and only if it is true under every interpretation, and an argument form (or schema) is valid if and only if every argument of that logical form is valid.” (From Wikipedia)
I think that the “problem” with measuring ANYTHING with respect to “Validity” is that powerful word “every” . . . In a world in which EVERYTHING is MOVING . . . ESPECIALLY in the business world, when exactly can ANY premise be “Valid?” (“every Interpretation” – “Every Argument”)
We have main stream ways and methods of getting things done and are having results . . . not always results at the level we desire, but results.
There’s a breed of people out there who are far less concerned about “Validity” . . . These are the “Outside the Lines” thinkers and doers who DARE to break the mainstream mold, and do things differently.
As these wild and different ways become known, the Mainstream folks have many dismissive names for them . . . The cockles rise and the flavor of response to these new things is along the lines of: “Don’t worry! That new way will be a flash in the pan . . . They’ll make a stir, get some publicity, then die.”
These Pioneers will first be charged with being “invalid” because what they are doing is not what “EVERYone” else is doing . . . therefore, what they are doing could not POSSIBLY succeed.”
Then the name calling commences:
“Renegade” – “A person who deserts and betrays an organization, country, or set of principles.”
“Maverick” – “An unorthodox or independent-minded person”
“Weirdo” – “A person whose dress or behavior seems strange or eccentric.”
“Hacker” – “A person who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and how to stretch their capabilities, as opposed to most users, who prefer to learn only the minimum necessary.”
“Quack” – “A person who dishonestly claims to have special knowledge in some field, typically in medicine.”
All the while, the pioneer deflects/ignores the critics and continues to refine the “New Way” . . . and gathers an increasingly enthusiastic tribe of “followers” (who UNDERSTAND and believe the way is VALID and are often belittled as “cult followers”)
Then that glorious day comes when this “New Way” breaks through and achieves “Validity” on a larger scale . . .
At which point the original Pioneer becomes a:
“Genius” – “A person of extraordinary intellect and talent”
“Visionary” – “A person with original ideas about what the future will or could be like.”
“Game Changer” – “A Visionary – A company that alters its business strategy and conceives an entirely new business plan.”
Hmmm . . . the telephone, the fax machine, the computer, the automobile, post-it notes, the airplane . . . ALL of these “technologies” ran this course of “Invalid” to BRILLIANT.
Don’t be so quick to judge . . .
In many ways, Pareto Realty is a “Pioneer, Renegade, Maverick, Weirdo, Hacker” kind of Real Estate firm . . . We’re focusing on a “High Performance Life” for real estate professionals which includes encouraging highly specialized niche focus . . . This “way” carries great potential for significantly improving the LOCAL community, and of course (because it’s not “mainstream” . . . it makes me a “Quack” 🙂
So . . . If you’ve got an “invalid” idea or 2 in your head, I encourage you to TAKE ACTION. Put it out there . . . You might just become a “BRILLIANT GENIUS” (of course, after being a quack for a while)
I guess it runs in the family. My Father Harrison Owen theorized and fielded the practice of Open Space Technology as being a very efficient way (process) to help organizations (and people) self-organize around finding FAST resolution for issues and opportunities they face in this “Raplex” world – In the worlds of “academia” and Organizational Development Consultants, Dad and Open Space were pure “quackery” . . . Yet MANY thousands of consultants are opening space EVERY day throughout the world . . . and it is doing some pretty wonderful things . . . Simply BRILLIANT! (Yet still considered to be “invalid” by many consultants).
