Sometimes, we get so caught up in the details of the negotiation we forget the objective.
Sometimes, we let our passion for representing the best interests of our client trick us into making even the simplest of solutions complex.
Sometimes we inadvertently undo a perfectly good deal because we’re caught up in the fight and let our ego take over.
Sometimes we cut off our nose to spite our face.
Maybe it’s time to:
Let that Deal BREATHE!
Turn of the ringer and dinger on the phone
Walk away from the computer
Leave the Building
Find a quiet place where NOBODY can find you.
and STAY in THAT place until your brain returns.
Sure! All kinds of “bad things” could happen in your absence because (after all), You ARE the ONLY human on the planet equipped to deal with the issues at hand and without YOU in the driver’s seat controlling EVERY minute detail, the whoe universe will implode into nothingness, RIGHT?
Don’t be so quick to deem yourself the SuperHero
You’re good . . .
You may be GREAT . . .
but consider the (unlikely) possibility that things can come together without your Heroic Prowess’ presence.
Let it breathe for a couple of hours (or over night), and I’ll bet the ranch that, when you surface, some (if not all) of the issues will have resolved in your absence.
None of this is to say your expertise is not necessary, for YOU are the one who brung us to this point . . . You just needed to know when to let the rest of us carry our fair share of the load.
Don’t worry . . . You won’t hurt our feelings if you abandon us for a short time . . . We will be grateful for your wisdom that it’s time to put on our big boy/girl pants and fend for ourselves once in a while.
