Even when it doesn’t fit your job description, will you do it?
What if you’re in a situation in which someone else is lazy, or distracted, or just being an idiot and not pulling their weight?
Will you do it anyway?
Will you pick up their dropped balls?
Folks who say: “YES!” without hesitation understand their purpose.
We’re not here to “do our job.”
We are here to serve at the highest level, and sometimes that means doing things we know aren’t our responsibility.
In my world of Real Estate Brokerage, Sales, and Consulting, I know it’s never that black and white.
If a buyer I don’t represent wants to view a property but her agent is out of town, I’ll do it.
If there’s a need for a form to be generated and I’m the only one with that capability at that exact moment, I’ll do it.
Even when I know I don’t have to . . .
I see people behaving this way all over the place.
Unsung heroes going above and beyond their call of duty.
These humble beings go around the place filling gaps and smoothing the way for everyone . . .
and they make the world go around . . .
- Picking up trash on the ground
- Holding doors open for others even when it means waiting a few more seconds
- Stopping traffic just long enough for that one car to make the left turn
- Covering the bill for that panicked person who just realized he forgot his wallet but already ate the meal.
To everyone out there who consistently and selflessly behaves in this way, I assure you that we are watching and noticing . . . and know that what comes around goes around.
Your actions are making a large difference in the lives of all of the people fortunate enough to cross your path in only for a moment.
We love you and we thank you!
