You know those days when you think you’re doing something (EVERYTHING) wrong?
The results of your efforts don’t seem to be “all that”, and your perception is that other professionals in your field of expertise are knocking balls out of the ball park.
Self doubt creeps in, and we crave validation.
Just a smidgen of commiseration from others would take the edge off these feelings of inadequacy.
Is it just you?
or is EVERYONE experiencing these thoughts?
Is the whole market a little wonky?
If it is, what can I (we) do about it?
If you’re a believer in the notion that all boats rise with the tide, you’re likely warm to the idea of joining (forming) a consortium of your peers/colleagues if for no other reason than the catharsis that comes from these monthly meetings.
Catharsis and cathartic both trace to the Greek word kathairein, meaning “to cleanse, purge.” Catharsis entered English as a medical term having to do with purging the body—and especially the bowels—of unwanted material. The adjective catharticentered English with a meaning descriptive of such a physically cleansing purge. It didn’t take long for people to start using these words figuratively in reference to emotional release and spiritual cleansing. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
I’m a true believer in the immeasurable value of regular opportunities to gather a bunch of my peers in a safe space to explore these issues and opportunities we all face in our market.
If you like this idea and are not aware of a consortium already in existence, START one yourself.
You don’t have to be an “Expert” . . . All you gotta do is find a great place (I reserve a space in a local restaurant for lunch) and invite everyone in your “space” (Field of expertise) . . . The right people will show up, and everyone will benefit.
PS. There are many of these “Groups” on Facebook, and those are great, but (I think) are less powerful than than an in-person exchange over a great meal.
If you’re a Principal Broker and/or Owner of a Real Estate Firm in Middle TN, I host a “Principal Broker Consortium” every 2nd Monday at 11:30 at a restaurant in Green Hills (Nashville), and you are welcome to join us. Just email me your contact information, and I’ll add you to the invitation list.
