Some compelling reasons to start writing a BLOG (or to start, well, ANYTHING!)

What’s the worst thing that could happen, if you pull the trigger and start something new?

Your ideas might be:

  • REJECTED! Like you invited a bunch of people to a party and no-one show up.
  • RIDICULED! The critics don’t like your ideas and/or you writing style, and the have the gall to TELL YOU!
  • STOLEN! Some jerk might plagiarize your work – Steal it and call it his own.
  • UNPRODUCTIVE! You think they’re great ideas, but when you put them out there nothing substantive happens – disappointing . . .
  • BRILLIANT! OMG! What if you were to put your thoughts out there and into action and you found unbelievable FAME and SUCCESS? That would be HORRIBLE because it would change your comfortable life.
What happens if you DON’T pull the trigger and start something new?
  • More of the same! If you’re completely happy with the way things are, I guess you can keep on keepin’ on . . . but don’t expect different results . . . and for Heaven’s sake don’t let any outside forces move your cheese
  • Other folks (Your competition) WILL be pulling triggers and very well may leave you in their dust
  • You’ll NEVER KNOW! How dare you squelch your potential. Do you REALLY know what your capabilities are? Your limitations? Unless you stick your neck out there once in a while, you’ll never know . . .
  • NOT HONORING YOURSELF! In order for other people to believe in you, you must first believe in yourself.
A few coined phrases:
  • Most successful people fail their way to success!
  • Insanity is doing the same things and expecting different results
  • If at first you don’t succeed, try try again!
  • If you snooze, you lose!
  • It’s not failure – It’s LEARNING another way that doesn’t work!

NOW!

This post was inspired by Seth Godin’s blog post today:

Talker’s Block

An excerpt: “Just write poorly. Continue to write poorly, in public, until you can write better.

I believe that everyone should write in public. Get a blog. Or use Squidoo or Tumblr or a microblogging site. Use an alias if you like. Turn off comments, certainly–you don’t need more criticism, you need more writing.

Do it every day. Every single day. Not a diary, not fiction, but analysis. Clear, crisp, honest writing about what you see in the world. Or want to see. Or teach (in writing). Tell us how to do something.”

Hopefully after reading this post, you’re starting to run out of reasons not to start writing a blog . . . or start doing something else useful that’s been on your mind but you’re procrastinating.

We’re all out here waiting with anticipation to see what you’ve got to share with us 🙂

Just sayin’

Best,

b
