Optimizing your Canine Lead Generation Strategy

Walking your dog could be one of your best lead generation tools.

Seriously!

Do you have a dog?

If you do have a dog and that dog isn’t getting you leads for your business, it’s YOUR fault . . . not the dog’s.

Of course, you probably initially adopted your dog for reasons other than lead generation . . . Like for companionship, to have a best friend, security, to babysit or entertain the children, herd your sheep . . . and your dog probably does ALL of those things well, but have you ever considered incorporating your dog into your lead generation strategy?

If you DON’T have a dog by the time you finish reading this post, you might just be ready to go out and adopt one yourself.

This strategy is a simple one, and it has a simply marvelous “By-Product” (Other than generating leads for your business) because you actually get more exercise and more emotionally fulfilled (Dogs are great non-judgmental companions).

Here it goes:

  1. Decide on a Geographic area in which you would like to specialize (Farm) for your business. This could be (but doesn’t have to be) the neighborhood in which you live.
  2. Adopt a dog. This doesn’t even have to be a cute dog . . . or a smart dog, but it helps if it is a “social” dog that is apt to play well with other dogs and people.
  3. Have someone take a picture of you walking your dog. This picture might be more effective if you do something particularly eye-catching like putting a colorful bandanna on the dog . . . Logo-wear with your firm name and telephone number
  4. Create a postcard template with a picture of you and your dog, a relevant Real Estate message and a “call to action” for them to contact you to find out what their home is worth . . . or to get a list of currently available homes in the neighborhood, etc
  5. Mail the postcard each month – same template – different message – ALWAYS a call to action
  6. The BEST part . . . Walk your dog through the neighborhood for at least 30 minutes each morning and each evening.

Odds are decent, the people you encounter during your walks will get to know your dog first. Invariably, they’ll begin to stop you and ask about real estate . . . which will indubitably lead to new Home Buyer and Seller LEADS.

So . . . If you don’t have a dog, BORROW one and do this.

PS – I do this and gained 2 new leads in a 24 hour period this week – a $450K listing and a $250K Buyer . . . Not bad for just taking a couple of walks with my dogs a couple of times each day 🙂

Rock’n ROLL!
