Homework

Every night, our kids come home with lots of homework . . . LOTS more homework than I remember having in 5th and 8th grade.

They are very diligent about getting it done (most nights).

We parents are often a part of the process, and we sometimes cringe when the math word problems show up.

The only saving grace is that we know that most homework assignments are mostly about repetition of patterns . . . once the student learns the pattern, the problems get easier – Practice makes perfect.

Each iteration becomes easier than the one before.

This is how we learn . . . Consistent persistence.

This is also so in our adult world as we hone our skills . . . create our systems . . . and build our models so as to automate more of the “Trivial Many” 80% stuff so we can focus more on the Vital Few stuff that MATTERS.

Do your homework . . . It’ll pay off in the long run.
