Don’t offer . . . Just DO!

Just bring food!

When a friend has a death in the family . . .

A baby birth . . .

New house . . .

Dinner party . . .

Don’t ask the Host or grieving person what they need because they’re gonna tell ya:

“Don’t bring anything. Just bring yourself!”

Few of us are good at asking for specific things because when we are in turmoil, we either don’t know or are not keen on exposing our vulerability.

Be the “gap filler!”

Put yourself in that person’s shoes and ask yourself what YOU would hope someone would bring. I’ve heard you can’t ever go wrong bringing bread to a wake because so many other people bring cold cuts and cheese.

I brought a case of Corona Beer and a bag of limes to a friend’s Father’s visitation because I thought if I were they, I would like to have an ice-cold beer with a lime.

Wine’s seldom a bad choice.

and something sweet is always welcomed.

Practice “Gap filling” in your presonal and professional life, and I’m betting you’ll feel more fulfilled.

You’ll be famous for “always being there with the right stuff”

and, of course . . . after all . . . it IS all about YOU – right?
