You are your own megaphone!
Who are you broadcasting yourself to be?
Will you admit to being influenced by:
“Independence brings freedom, but also responsibility.”
Seth Godin hits the nail on the head . . . AGAIN!
Do you have an awareness that, in many ways, you choose to define yourself by investing your time, energy, and money into those folks with whom you hang?
“Peer Pressure” is frequently thought of as being a negative thing . . . Detrimental . . . a pressure from “dark associates” who goad you into going down a slippery path of not “doing the right thing.”
Wikipedia says: “Peer pressure (or social pressure) is the direct influence on people by peers, or the effect on an individual who gets encouraged to follow their peers by changing their attitudes, values or behaviors to conform to those of the influencing group or individual.”
Peer pressure can be distress . . . or . . .
“eustress: a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being” (Merriam-Webster)
The best part of all of this is that it’s a choice.
We can choose to follow our authentic passion and surround ourselves with people who support our pursuits . . .
or we can choose to compromise our authentic self by hanging out with folks who encourage us to go astray.
Either way, we are claiming our independence and are enjoying the freedom that fosters . . . and . . .
There’s no escaping the responsibility requirement.
This isn’t so hard . . . Know your passion (who you are) and take responsibility for being that person who is the driving force for your own human experience while on on earth with us.
We love your authentic self in all your beauty!
